Money Making Guide
This money making guide provides players with a list of ideas that can help them make money in RuneScape. When using this guide, players should keep in mind that the RuneScape economy is constantly changing, which means that not all of the information given here will be completely accurate. Although these methods were accurate for the majority of players, they are not guaranteed to work for every player. Making money is about working hard and using resources. Bear in mind that no matter how fast and effective one method may be, it still takes time and patience to earn large amounts of money.

Money making Merchanting

Mrchanting is the act of buying one item for a certain price and selling it for a higher price, pocketing the difference. Merchanting requires no in-game skills but will often require a certain amount of patience in order to make maximum profit. Merchanting is not as easy as it once was, due to the release of the Grand Exchange and the removal of unbalanced trade, but it can still be done.

Buy items that are part of an armour set, package the components, and sell the sets. This is a very cash intensive process, as you must purchase each of the components separately (or make them) in order to create the sets. It is important to understand both the market and the kind of armour that you are packaging up.

Some sets like rune armour require a quest to be completed (Dragon Slayer), and are unlikely to be purchased as a complete set. A patient merchant can purchase the components at the minimum price and sell the completed sets at the maximum market price, pocketing the difference as profit. Members have a significant advantage doing this with both wider diversity in terms of the number of different sets available and having six slots on the Grand Exchange to purchase components, but this can be done by free players as well.

Buy up commonly traded items in mass amounts at the Grand Exchange that are currently rising in price, wait until the item price levels off or starts going down, and sell the items. For example, suppose tin ore ore was 26 coins on the Grand Exchange and rising in price. A player with 2.6 million gold could buy 100,000 tin ore and watch the Grand Exchange graphs on the RuneScape home page, and once the price began to level off or fall, they could sell their ores. If tin ore went up only 10 coins each and that player sold all 100,000 at 36 coins each, they would make exactly 1 million coins in a matter of days for almost no work. This method may require some patience and careful price watching but can be very rewarding if done correctly.

Quick Guide

(1) If you do nothing else, do this: Learn to use the Auction House, both for buying and selling.
Consider installing the Auctioneer addon and use it to your advantage in the Auction House
.
(2) Bargain hunt, do not pay full price.

(3) Do not bother bargain hunting at early levels without the Auctioneer addon. You will spend large amounts of time learning the price of items by heart, while the addon could do that for you automatically.

(4) Always post a buyout price on your auctions - many players will not bid on an auction with no buyout, unless the item is heavily discounted, and then it usually sells for a fraction of what it could have gotten. You will have more sales at a higher price and get your money more quickly if you post a proper buyout price.

(5) When you have saved around 5g (and you will quickly, due to having taken gathering professions), you can start investing. Buy cheap items on the AH and then re-list them for a profit. Only buy and sell what you know, and test your theories in small quantities.

(6) Generally, do not craft white items unless you know there is a demand for that item.

(7) Learn what stats are useful and craft items that appropriately enhance those stats.
(8) Do not overproduce; increased supply depresses price. You will get a better price per item if you sell fewer of an item.

(9) Be frugal upgrading your gear.

(10)Every bright, shiny new piece of gear is going to be old and shabby in a level or two.
